Gold Beach Wedding
Gold Beach is a city located in, and the county seat of Curry County, OregonGR6. At first, in the 1850s, named Ellensburg, Gold Beach took its permanent name from a beach near the mouth of the Rogue River where hundreds of placer mines extracted gold. The population was 1,897 at the 2000 census. Although Gold Beach had been a community since the middle of the 19th century, and the county seat since 1859, its current incorporation charter only dates to 1945. Gold Beach is located at 42248N, 1242455W (42.402343, -124.415164)GR1.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 6.5 km (2.5 mi). 6.0 km (2.3 mi) of it is land and 0.5 km (0.2 mi) of it (7.54%) is water. As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 1,897 people, 829 households, and 509 families residing in the city. The population density was 314.4/km (813.7/mi). There were 987 housing units at an average density of 163.6/km (423.4/mi). The racial makeup of the city was 93.09% White, 0.26% African American, 2.21% Native American, 0.90% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 1.16% from other races, and 2.32% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.69% of the population.
